Sharing the billing for two sets, Gareth Williams and Beware of Trains will bring you an evening of intimate songs and melodious chamber pop, weaving together literature, music hall and a flash of festive warmth.

Highly acclaimed composer/songwriter Gareth Williams brings his debut album “Songs From the Last Page” to life, lyrically transforming iconic final pages from Scottish fiction into brand-new ‘literary chamber pop’ songs. From the melancholy mastermind of Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, to Kirsty Campbell’s joyful farewell in Ely Percy’s Duck Feet, the performance celebrates a diverse range of storytellers from across Scotland. This spellbinding collection for voice, piano and strings captures the moment a reader finishes the last lines of a book and holds it for just a few… more… minutes.

Described as “A combination of Opera, the Divine Comedy and John Shuttleworth” Heptonstall VFest 2020, – Beware of Trains invite you to their celebratory Christmas single launch of “Forever Home” mixed by acclaimed producer Darren Allison (The Divine Comedy, Belle and Sebastian).

Meeting in 2019 while performing in an articulated lorry converted into a touring theatre, their show is a spirited collaboration between pianist and singer/songwriter Leighton Jones (former keyboardist for The Peatbog Faeries) and Scottish soprano Marie Claire Breen – “A soprano of rare fluency” (The Daily Mail), joined by Laura McIntosh on keys and bass.

Featuring a plethora of symphonic originals and a nod to their inspirational influences including Kate BushNeil Hannon and Orlando Weeks (The Gritterman), prepare to be immersed in their theatrical world of shimmering strings, heavenly harmonies and a dollop of Disney on the side.
