New String Collective

New String Collective is a group of bowed-string players interested in pushing at the edges of the conventional string orchestra. Comprising some of Scotland’s most exciting, radical string players, improvisation is at the heart of its process and practice. Unbound by the hegemony of notation, New String Collective is free to interrogate sound and form, and to mine the rich sonic landscapes of the violin, viola, cello and double bass. In this first performance, the group will play a mix of improvisations, devised pieces and graphic scores.
