Dead Ends, Losers, and Inventions

An evening of experimental sound, moving image and post-industrial machines with ‘Motorhand’ (Graeme Hogg), ‘Cheapest Cigs and Booze in Town’ (Tall) and ‘Invisible Creatures’ (Jennifer Wicks). They come together for an evening of experimental sound and moving image, moving between noise, projection, analogue processes, improvisation and technological misbehaviour.

Motorhand is the end of the strasse for the electric motor. Noise and live melting of 16mm film using a modified Eiki. Film slowed down til it eventually dies. Motorhand is Graeme Hogg (Hogge) a co-founder of Cube Cinema in Bristol, UK, a long-standing hub for underground, independent, and DIY creative scenes since 1998. His film lab project Nachleben emerged from the preservation and repurposing of cinema machinery made available during the industry’s transition to digital.

Invisible Creatures industrial noise, sample culture and cut-up techniques. Using modified 16mm projectors, contact mics, and multiple guitar effects pedals, to craft layered, and dissonant sound and visual installations. Invisible Creatures is interdisciplinary artist and musician Jennifer Wicks. She also makes music with experimental post-punk duo WOMEN’S HOUR (J. Wicks and Murray CY).
