Immersive improvisations and compositions for cello, piano and electronics
Giles Lamb (piano and electronics) and Peter Nicholson (cello) have been making music together for over 20 years. Their work has always inhabited the blurred spaces between improvisation and composition, most often finding expression in the recording studio for one of Giles Lamb’s soundtracks. For this performance the pair will use fragments of recordings as the foundation for new work – playing on the tension between pre-recorded samples and live acoustic improvisation. In recognition of their work together in the studio, the evening will also feature visuals drawn from Giles’ extensive work in film.
After so many years of working together in the studio this will be Giles and Peter’s first live gig as a duo.
