New wave legends Restricted Code return to the Old Hairdresser’s
Restricted Code, one of the original bands of “The Sound of Young Scotland,” play the Old Hairdresser’s on Saturday 5th September 2026. Formed in Glasgow in 1978, Restricted Code were among the most talked-about bands of the post-punk era. Signed to Bob Last’s Pop:Aural label, they recorded a John Peel session and toured the UK and Europe with The Human League. Sounds hailed one performance as the “best gig of 1981” before the band split later that year, having never released a full-length album.
Reunited in 2018 with their original line-up, the band finally released that long-awaited debut, Chasing Shadows, in November 2025 on Last Night From Glasgow. The record charted in the UK’s Official Scottish Albums Chart at #34 on release, reaching #13 in the UK Official Indie Charts, with The Scotsman awarding 4-stars and praising its “warm electric piano, crooning vocals and melodic synths.”
The band will play Chasing Shadows, as well as debuting new material and dipping in to the best of their back catalogue.
