On August 24th, Rum Doxy launch their debut album ‘Begone’: a lo-fi odyssey of glitchy electronics, jangly guitars, walls of polyrhythms, rusty synth ambience and deaf crooner tones. Although the record was written and performed solely by frontman RJ White, Rum Doxy has come to be a fully democratic band that has been making waves in Glasgow’s underground.  

Joining them on the night, and amongst Glasgow’s finest, synth-pop wizard Sherbet Kitty and psychedelic-punk iconoclasts Spit Back.

Following the break up of The Abstract Dancers, vocalist RJ White began Rum Doxy in the summer of 2025 as a solo project. Before having a band together he recorded the group’s debut album ‘Begone’ with engineer Joshua Grey at a studio in Glasgow, and finished it with hours of sonic experimentation in his flat in Paisley. While Rum Doxy’s debut single ‘Soviet Disco’ received airplay and made it onto SAMA’s October singles roundup, the band was starting to form through the community of musicians based around the Bloc+ scene. Guitarist Val Duncan (Westbound Foxes) and Drummer Jan Konopka (DREГKΣ, Wretch) soon joined and the trio formed a tight and intense live band currently at large in Glasgow.
