This is a launch gig for The Jack Ruby 5’s debut album, Despedida La Bodega (on Strength in Numbers Records). The band is a Glasgow-based jazz ensemble whose music bridges the soulful grit of Grant Green with the melodic elegance of Stan Getz and the Latin subtlety of João Gilberto. Inspired by Glasgow’s disappearing cultural spaces and infused with a cinematic, groove-rich quality, the album offers a fresh twist on acid jazz, post-bop, and Latin influences — a sound both distinctly Glaswegian and globally resonant. The vinyl album will be available on the night for a reduced price of £15 (with ticket).
