STEPHANIE LAMPREA + RICHARD CRAIG

Stephanie Lamprea and Richard Craig return to the Old Hairdresser’s with new works for voice, flute, and electronics! This electrifying evening will include the world premiere of Stuart MacRae’s Prehistory, a mammoth new work that  reflects on aspects of Scotland’s early peoples (i.e. Neolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age) through the materials they used for everyday existence: bone, skin, wood, metal, stone, air. Lamprea and Craig will also play recent works by Laura Bowler, Seyoung Oh, and more!
Stephanie Lamprea and Richard Craig collaborate as a voice and flute duo. Their work includes performing new works and free improvisation. Their work has been described as a ‘demanding and fascinating taste of contemporary art music both inhabiting and transcending (some would say bypassing) traditional forms and modes of musical production.’ (Edinburgh Music Review) Together, they have performed at Inspace, the Edinburgh College of Arts, and the Hidden Door Festival. With a flair for avant-garde techniques and timbres, they have performed virtuosic duo works by Rebecca Saunders, Patricia Alessandrini, Kate Soper, Thomas Metcalf, and Tom W. Green. Lamprea and Craig also collaborate in an expanded quartet – Ipsa Collective – alongside violinist Feargus Hetherington and percussionist Darren Gallacher.
